Shawana Rentz

Firearms Instructor | Founder, Legacy Defense Institute

Shawana Rentz is the founder and lead firearms instructor at Legacy Defense Institute, where she is committed to making quality firearms education approachable, professional, and purposeful.

Her instruction encompasses Basic Pistol, Women on Target, Firearms Safety, Disaster Preparedness, and CCW preparation, with an emphasis on developing knowledgeable and responsible firearm owners.

Shawana believes effective instruction goes beyond demonstrating a skill. It means creating an environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, developing confidence, and understanding the responsibilities that accompany firearm ownership.

Her teaching philosophy is centered on three principles:

Every student brings a different background and level of experience to the classroom. Shawana takes the time to meet students where they are, provide individualized guidance, and create a learning experience that encourages continued growth.
